SLINGING REGULAR LOADS SAFELY
NZQA Unit Standards 30072 & 3789
This course has been specifically designed for individuals who require a solid understanding of crane operations involving the slinging of regular loads and the safe direction of cranes during these operations. Gain a clear understanding of Dogman responsibilities, the skills required to carry out these duties, and learn about relevant industry regulations and general information related to the crane sector.
The Crane Industry has identified a knowledge gap surrounding basic slinging techniques. To address this, Unit Standard 30072 has been introduced as a prerequisite, which is covered in this course. It serves as a foundational element for more specialized training, such as Truck Loader (HIAB) Cranes, Gantry Cranes, Mobile Crane, Tower Crane, Self Erector etc.
Unit Standard 3789, which is also included in the course, is a key competency for ensuring participants can meet the requirements for safely performing slinging operations and directing
crane movements. This combined approach equips students with essential skills for advanced crane operations.
In accordance with the requirements to maintain Consent to Assess for the unit standards taught on this course, the training has been pre-moderated and approved by our standard setting body, Te Pūkenga | New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology.
